Craft can be defined as some sort of skill that the artist possesses, how much space the artwork occupies, or it could be the way that the artwork is structured. Craft can also mean how an object is decorated. This could mean the space around the object, inside or out. Examples would be furniture or pictures on a wall in a house. These are all ideas for craft because they are decorating the inside of a house. Craft can also mean the output of an artwork. In addition to that, artists put their heart and soul into a piece while craft is just from the mind. Craft won’t have emotions flowing unlike art, which does have emotion. Sometimes, depending on the artist, craft can have the same effect as art, where it can have emotion and feeling. Craft is basically the more straightforward version of art. It’s more skilled than the rest while art is just natural and free flowing.
Get Crafty
If I had to define art, I would say that it’s an artist’s idea or vision that they have conveyed onto a piece of paper, painted, or even sculpted. It could also display how they feel about something, or an expression of skill and imagination. Why I define it like that is because everyone has a feeling towards art and you must start somewhere to get your ideas and thoughts together to make a masterpiece. It could be anything, to stick figures to expert drawings. Art is basically an extension of someone’s personality, feelings, thoughts and emotions, and actions. When it comes to skill, some artists take a long time to complete one piece. It all depends on how the artist wants to see it, how the viewers would like to see it, and most of all be impressed by the work. Art can also convey meaning. Almost all artwork and designs have some sort of meaning behind them, whether it would symbolize something in real life, or something that’s personal to someone, art can have any sort of meaning.
Get Artistic
Design it
My definition of Design would be the process or steps to either making a piece of art or a message to get across. It can also mean the creation of an art piece. Leading on from the definition of art, you’re basically brainstorming ideas in the mind and transferring them onto paper. The design process in my opinion can take a while, because many visions come to mind and it will be very hard to choose which idea you would like the best. Design and Art are two different things however. Design is basically communicating a message rather than artwork. Art can also refer to what the artist is going for rather than design, which means opinion. So basically, artists will look to what suits them when drawing or making an art piece, designers tend to form opinions about art, which is judged. Design does have taste however, but the difference still stands between art and design, and that is determined by the opinion.
The difference between knowledge and creativity is that knowledge is basically knowing something that’s basic or just common knowledge. It’s like studying for a test, you’re only supposed to know this set of information rather than the entire subject. Creativity however, is like thinking outside the box. Questions like, “What can I do to improve?” or “How do I make this better?” are all out of the box questions. Creativity can also mean going above and beyond or doing more than what you’re already thinking. How this would relate to art would be that knowledge would mean that something is drawn a specific way that the artist knows and can only draw it that way. Creativity allows the artist to generate more ideas and thoughts into the mind as they draw, so they can improve their work as they go along. How they are related is that there are always ideas or topics that come to mind when you’re thinking about something. The knowledge part comes in when you already know about the subject, and the creativity is when you start to think of other ideas or similarities about the same topic.
